Jason Christian

Lives and works in Seattle, Washington, USA

"I still don't know whether I chose the glass or it chose me. The moment I walked into that studio and saw what was going on, I knew I had to be a part of it."

Jason Christian sensed in working with glass a vocation, something he didn't know he had but had missed. Manipulating molten matter, shaping it, deforming it as if it were water, is like magic to Christian. It was love at first sight and the desire to express his creativity that prompted Christian to take up training. The camaraderie and mutual support of the small glass community created an environment conducive to the artist's artistic development, inspiring him to surpass himself.

His works represent him as a whole, with every piece of life a source of creation, especially the nostalgic, bygone periods of childhood and family. Emotion is his driving force. Like most choices in his life, he doesn't know why he should create a work, but he knows he must.
