The vocation of the Centre du Verre Contemporain is to promote the work of world-renowned glass artists and designers, as well as to exchange and renew techniques and know-how in the art of glass.

The Center brings together an international community of creators and students exploring the use of glass in art and design.

Housed in a former oil mill in Biot, the Centre has an exhibition space, two glass workshops (hot and cold) and a metal workshop.

Creation, experimentation and sharing are at the heart of its philosophy.

Artists' residencies
Hosted on site, residents work in our workshops with our teams, then present the fruit of their research and creations at a solo exhibition.

Exhibition of a permanent and constantly renewed collection of glass artworks
The center exhibits and sells series and collections by glass designers from all over the world.

Immersive experiences showcasing and sharing knowledge of glassmaking know-how
The Center offers a variety of glassblowing and creative experiences where the public comes into contact with the molten material.

Co-organization of the biennial Biot International Glass Festival

Training
As a partner of the Hilltop Artists school in Tacoma - the American city of glass art, twinned with Biot - and the Pilchuck Glass School in Seattle, the Center welcomes students selected on the basis of applications for internships.
It is also a key venue for glass students (Ecole Nationale du Verre and CERFAV in France, Royal Danish Academy / Bornholm / Denmark, National School of Glass / Nybro / Sweden), as well as students from design, arts and crafts, fine arts and architecture schools.
The Center also employs international work-study students.
